The BIG Lunch on Sunday 19th July 2009

The BIG Lunch
Sunday 19th July

Do you know of the Eden Project’s exciting plan for a huge street party across the country using home-grown produce? They say:

“Imagine a summer’s day on which millions of us, throughout the UK, sit down to have lunch together, with our neighbours in the middle of our streets, around our tower blocks and on every patch of common ground. The food, entertainment and decorations we will have either grown, cooked, or created ourselves. This will be a day to break bread with our neighbours, to put a smile on Britain’s face.”

Visit their website on www.thebiglunch.com/big-idea for more
details.

Do you think we should try and get something off the ground in Dorchester, Weymouth or Portland? Although not directly to do with LETS you might think it’s ‘our sort of thing’. LET’s discuss it on the blog on http://dorchesterlets.wordpress.com/blog – we’d love to hear from you!

We’re in the Money!!!

Yes, real ££££££s!!! Dorchester & South Dorset LETS are very pleased to have been awarded a small grant from Dorchester Car Boot Charity. The money must be spent on publicity (leaflets, banners and event venue hiring) and should be spent in full within 12 months. So ‘thank you’ to the car booters of Dorchester and also to LETS member Sally Cooke who is such an expert at tracking down grant-giving bodies and persuading them that we are worthy of their largesse. It should enable us, through publicity, to enlarge our membership even further. We have over 70 members now and are still growing…
