Just a reminder that the Eden Project’s THE BIG LUNCH – an exciting plan for street parties across the country using home-grown produce – is happening all over the UK on Sunday 19th July, and there are now a few street parties planned in our area on; Monmouth Road in Dorchester, Baynard’s Road in Poundbury, Primala Close near Broadwey, Alexandra Road in Charlestown, plus people interested in Weymouth.
The Big Lunch is all about bringing people together in the community and sharing – which isn’t so far away from the aims of LETS either! So why not join in your nearest party and tell us how it went so maybe our LETS could organise our own Big Lunch in 2010!
To find a Big Lunch near you visit www.thebiglunch.com/find-big-lunch.
Anna Celeste Watson also has a copy of the Big Lunch Booklet available to borrow if you would like to help the LETS Core Group organise a Big Lunch for 2010. Email Anna on web@dorchester-lets.co.uk. Or you can buy your own for only £2 at Waterstones or on www.edenproject.com/shop/Big-Lunch-Brochure.aspx - all profits go to support the Eden Trust.

Saw you are holding a few Big Lunches and thought you might be interested in a competition we’re running ahead of the day itself. I am from Raindance, the organisation that promotes independent film and runs the Raindance Film Festival — we’re inviting people to make a film about the Big Lunch and offering two £1000 prizes for the best. There’s still time to enter the competition if it’s of interest. Full details are at http://raindance.tv/thebiglunch

We’re not holding a Big Lunch ourselves but maybe next year and I’m thinking about getting back into filmmaking myself so will have a good look at your site and if you run another comp next year maybe I will be brave and enter it! : )

Anna,
Thanks for the comment! If you are thinking about getting into filmmaking, you are more than welcome to enter the competition this year. Hosting a Big Lunch is not a prerequisite!

Due to unprecedented demand to enter The Big Lunch Short Film Competition, some filmmakers have been requesting a bit more time to complete their films. We’re pleased to announce that we can extend the competition deadline until midnight Sunday 5 July. Competition details at http://raindance.tv/thebiglunch
