LETS Photography for TV Presenter Nick Ashron

If you weren’t already impressed by the quality of the professional Photography offered on our LETS by Steve Atkins -  see http://dorchesterlets.wordpress.com/2009/08/25/lets-photography-for-riverside-lodge-self-catering-cottage-in-dorchester-dorset,  then South West Dorset LETS also has nationally acclaimed Portrait Photographer Pete Millson who you may remember did an exhibition and book on our very own LETS Community – see http://dorchesterlets.wordpress.com/2009/07/22/lets-see-portraits-of-a-community-book-now-available.

Anna Celeste Watson (me, your LETS Web Manager!) recently commissioned Pete for a photoshoot to promote my Dad – Psychic Artist, Musician, Author & TV Presenter Nick Ashron – and his show Nick Ashron’s Lightworker’s Guide to the Galaxy on Controversial TV Sky 200 (also available to watch online).

Another great reason to use LETS I think! It’s amazing that professional people are also prepared to offer their services by exchange for people who would otherwise not be able to afford to pay them, so thanks again Pete!

Check out a selection of photos below taken at Thornecombe Woods near Dorchester:

You can commission Pete Millson for your own professional photographs through LETS. Check out his website www.petemillson.com and blog http://petemillson.wordpress.com.

LETS members got on their bikes (and braved the drizzly Summer rain)!

On Sunday 26th July 2009, Katy Murrell invited fellow LETS members on a CYCLE RIDE FROM DORCHESTER TO MORETON.

Only 1 other brave member joined her despite the grey weather, but look out more LETS bike rides in future when we might get brighter weather!

Katy’s Report:

LETS Bike Ride July 2009

“Here is a photo of Sabine and I on the way back from Moreton tea rooms. We stopped by at Lewell Farm, near West Stafford, where you can pick your own strawberries, raspberries, vegetables etc etc. They also sold us a welcome ice cream. The ride took us just over an hour and we ate sandwiches by the ford after a welcome drink in Moreton tea rooms. Then it took us just over an hour coming back. The weather was dull for most of the time. A few droplets of rain kept us nice and cool.

We decided we would like to go for bike rides more often. Anyone who would like to join us please let Katy or Sabine know. Our motto is ‘No one gets left behind!’.”

Call Katy on (01305) 262253 or email katy@dorchester-lets.co.uk.
Or call Sabine Bale on (01305) 260318.

For details of the planned trip see the original blog post on http://dorchesterlets.wordpress.com/2009/06/25/let%E2%80%99s-get-on-our-bikes-on-sunday-26th-july-2009.

Solstice BBQ

Katy's LETS BBQ

On Saturday 20th June 2009 LETS members, friends and family were once again invited to “chill out by the river!” at a Solstice Bonfire Party with a Vegetarian BBQ at Katy Murrell’s in Fordington, Dorchester.

As part of the evening’s celebrations there was also a Summer Solstice Ceremony facilitated by LETS member Vicky Turner. This was a short, simple and inclusive ceremony to honour the summer. “What can you use the long summer days for to reap the rewards of at harvest time? This ceremony can be used to motivate you towards your goals for the year or just as a chance to observe the turning of the seasons amongst friends.” Vicky offers several services on LETS including Pagan Ceremonies such as this, and Workshops including Meditation. LETS Solstice Bonfire & Vegetarian BBQ on Saturday 20th June 2009

Saturday 20th June 2009 in Fordington, Dorchester
Arrive from 6.45pm, followed by Solstice Ceremony at 7pm, then BBQ & drinks from 7.30pm

LETS members, friends and family are once again invited to “chill out by the river!” at a Solstice Bonfire Party with a Vegetarian BBQ at Katy Murrell’s in Fordington, Dorchester. Anyone interested in joining LETS is also welcome.

Please bring vegetarian food to share and a bottle! You can also bring your own garden chair if you wish, plus picnic plate and cup! Any waste wood or timber to keep the fire going would also be appreciated.

As part of the evening’s celebrations there will also be a Summer Solstice Ceremony facilitated by Vicky Turner, from 7.00pm followed by the BBQ and drinks at 7.30pm.

This will be a short, simple and inclusive ceremony to honour the summer. What can you use the long summer days for to reap the rewards of at harvest time? This ceremony can be used to motivate you towards your goals for the year or just as a chance to observe the turning of the seasons amongst friends. Vicky will be looking for some willing volunteers to do some brief readings during the ceremony, preferably three women and three men – if you want to let her know in advance that you’d like to be involved, please call Vicky on 01305 759483 or email flamekeeper@hotmail.co.uk.

Katy is looking for helpers for the evening who will be paid in Marts for their time. We look forward to seeing you there at Katy’s, 46 Holloway Road, Fordington, Dorchester. For directions  etc call Katy on 01305 262253.

P.S. AS ALWAYS, LETS MEMBERS ARE WELCOME TO BRING STUFF TO TRADE SO REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR LETS CHEQUE BOOK TOO!!!

By the way, Susie says that “Folk who are coming may like to be aware that the Dorchester Carnival Procession starts at 6pm so quite a few roads in the Town Centre will be closed from about 5.45pm for about an hour. Also, if anyone has any energy left after the BBQ, there’s a great FREE concert in the Borough Gardens from 7.30-10pm by a band from Kent called The A Listers who do a wide range of music from the 1960s through to present day! Wander up and join us if it fits in.” – So thanks for that Susie!

Anna’s full article is COMING SOON! (Sorry but didn’t have time to finalise in time for the Newsletter as we wanted to get it out sooner rather than later, and I need Eleanor to check my article for me so I don’t completely misinform you all about the different herbs!!!)…

For those of you that couldn’t make it, Eleanor is available for Herbal Consultations and Medicines amongst other related things on LETS, so contact her on 01300 341750 for more information.

Saturday 17th January 2009, 1pm - 6pm

All our LETS members were invited to our New Year party at Katy Murrell’s in Fordington Dorchester on Saturday 17th January. It was another successful and enjoyable but relaxed event – quite a few members turned up and traded unwanted Christmas presents and other produce on LETS.

We chilled out by the log burner, enjoyed the shared food everyone contributed and drank organic Mead & Chia Tea (courtesy of Katy’s daughter Tasha)!

Make Your Own Christmas Door Wreath Workshop with LETS Member Sabine Bale

Sabine and Jenny making their Christmas Door Wreaths!

Sabine and Jenny making their Christmas Door Wreaths!

LETS member and Florist Sabine Bale hosted 2 half day workshops to help other LETS members make their own Christmas Door Wreaths at her home in Dorchester on Sunday 23rd November.

The workshops cost 10 marts each.

Members brought their our own foliage, decorations and tools to work with – check out the photo of Sabine with Jenny!

“My offer of having a workshop for Christmas Door-Wreath Making last November was taken up by two lady members and a friend in the morning. They got on very well with the techniques. Another lady came in the afternoon session with whom I concentrated mostly on decorations. We all enjoyed the day. Eleanor Gallia and I plan to have the next floristry session at her place because of the excellent facilities, foliage and space! We’re looking forward to inviting you for more fun and designs in November 2009.”
