I would love to meet fellow parents on LETS, particularly of younger children. We have a 6 year old boy. Initially would like to exchange ideas for possible child friendly socials and/or play dates. Want to broaden our family’s social circle as we are still new to the area. But also want to create some kind of ongoing ‘family connections’ within LETS.
Any ideas or if you just want to say HI, then please do contact me :-)

PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP I AM GETTING DESPERATE..
Help needed please with moving a modest amount of house contents on Sat 19th June, from Higher Burton near Dorchester just into the van which will be parked right outside. Heaviest items are 2 seater sofa, washing machine, king size matress. No cooker, or full size freezer or fridge. No other suite items. I have some family help arranged but would like to spread the load so as not to wear anyone out. Ideally I would like to engage 2 LETs members at standard rate for 2 hours each, from 10 am to 12 am. I will be providing tea and biscuits throughout!

Can anyone help please – I am getting desperate….
I need moving help near Charminster, Dorchester on Sat 19 June from 10am to 12 just for the loading of the van (which will have a hydraulic tail lift) from the house and shed. The van can be parked right outside the house. You would be joining my existing band of helpers – just 3 of my family – a friend was going to help but broke his finger and can’t help now!
The heavy items only include a 2 seater sofa, a king size matress and a washing machine. The rest of it is all liftable by one person in taken apart form, though it would be shared amongst us all.
I would be so grateful to hear from anyone who is fit and able to help out with this job. We will be careful, and do it all properly so as not to hurt backs etc. My brother is helping and he is a health and safety assessor in his workplace!
I am offering standard rate for two hours, and would ideally like two people to help, so if you operate as a pair so much the better. It will be a sociable job with tea and biscuits provided.
Many thanks

Hi, can anyone recommend a good, low cost meeting space for rent in Dorchester? For a group of about 8-10 people. I am going to run a womens group/course starting in the evenings in November. Appreciate any suggestions from people with local knowledge of these things. Thank you!

The Town Council has a little booklet its produced on venues in Dorchester. I think the cheapest space is at the Colliton Club but there are other less “public sector” spaces too. Char Chars have a meeting room that they let out upstairs and so does the Old Tea Shop at the top of town – but I’m not sure what the prices are for these? Weymouth College also has rooms at the Construction centre in Poundbury. Good luck! Linda Screen

Hi Linda, thank you for all that! I will try the Town Council first then. I need it to be a relaxed and quiet venue suitable for relaxation and so on. I am looking at Holton Lee near Wareham, lovely setting with outdoor space but think it might prove too pricey to hire. Take care, Hilary

Holton Lee is super – we’ve done a few weddings there – but a long way from Dorchester though!

Can anyone help with an A5 flyer design? I really need help with creating an eye catching layout for my Women’s group flyer. Would be good to have it done within the next week. Thank you!

Hello Linda,
Maybe you’d have more luck trying our new LETS Yahoo Group? – See latest newsletter for details as not sure whether this goes out to many people now.
Sadly I haven’t got any pickled onions or eggs to offer you :(
Jenny xx

Dear Letsies,
Is there anyone who is a keen e-bay-er who would be willing to either teach me how to sell items on e-bay, or (fingers crossed) willing to do it on my behalf? I have several language courses (originally bought from e-bay) which have served me well .
thanks, Madeline

Help! We need someone to construct a chicken proof fence this week if possible, The enclosure is not too big. We have 2 young pullets and they are escaping over the current fence. (Erected when we had ex battery hens, however these are younger and healthier and flapping over!) We are in Winfrith. Happy to provide lunch or drinks or both! Thank you. :-)

Hi Hilary,
Can’t help you myself, but for now would recommend clipping their wing feathers, which has worked for me in the past until they have grown fatter and heavier! Tis just only on one side that you clip them and only the very longest feathers down to around half or as much as you can but not down too far. Obviously, they will regrow some more when the clipped ones have been there too long, but by then you’d have a fence or they’d be fatter! You need to watch out for Mr. Reynard though!
Good luck and well done
